There’s no rest for the wicked … with the Q1 release delayed by a month, this release is quickly upon us! Welcome to the Zalaris series on the SAP SuccessFactors Q2 2019 release. Over the coming week we’ll be publishing articles covering the full SAP SuccessFactors Cloud HCM suite of applications.
Thanks to all of you who have been reading, sharing and providing feedback on our content. If you missed our previous quarter’s blogs, you can find them on zalaris.co.uk. As before, you’ll see a set of blog posts on our website linking to multiple articles; one for each functional area. If you are a customer or have joined our mailing list (sign up here), then you’ll receive a consolidated eBook of all the articles shortly after the end of our series.
This release is a little smaller than the previous three quarters (but comparable to Q2 last year) in terms of the number of release items, mainly due to the drop in Universal release items (down ~30%). However, there is plenty to review with still a high number of release items for Employee Central and Recruiting, though there is a notable dip in Learning release items (due to significant ongoing Learning projects) and no SAP Jam updates this quarter. Nearly three-quarters of all the changes are classed as “Major” by SAP.
SAP continues to streamline its product approach by using the best available SAP products across their solutions; we’ve already seen and heard about SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP technologies for machine learning. Another example is the use of SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication service (CPIAS). Starting in the Q2 2019 release, all new SAP SuccessFactors systems are automatically connected to a SAP CPIAS instance and existing customers can migrate (at no additional subscription cost) to use this common authentication service whether you want to use username/password, SSO, partial SSO, two-factor authentication, … the list goes on!
Preview instances of SuccessFactors were updated on 10th May 2019, and the production instances are being updated on 7th June 2019.
