Another Year! Welcome to the Zalaris series on the SAP SuccessFactors Q1 2019 release. Over the coming week we’ll be publishing articles covering the full SAP SuccessFactors Cloud HCM suite of applications.

The rate of change continues as this release is very similar in size to the previous 4 releases (~200 changes) and nearly 60% are Universal so everyone should be noticing some change! From a functional area perspective, there are the typical large number of changes in Employee Central and Platform while Recruiting changes are notable lower than the previous two quarters. There are also 30 mobile changes (10 related to Learning), including the ability for users to access the internal Careers Site from the iOS and Android mobile application.
I recently added our AMO (aka “Support”) team to my responsibilities within Zalaris UK where we provide both on-premise HCM and SAP SuccessFactors cloud HCM support services to our customers. Within Cloud support the debate is often about how often should the customer review the optional elements of the quarterly updates (every quarter? 6 months? Annually for some modules?) and what level of regression testing to do at each quarterly release. There is no “one” answer right for everyone as a variety of factors come into play (type of modules, HR calendar, number of employees and resources able to action change).
Preview instances of SuccessFactors were updated on 8th March 2019, and the production instances are being updated on 5th April 2019.
